Strikingly Review & Rating

A one page website can be so much more than just a dreary banner, especially when you use a sleek website builder like Strikingly to build it.

Strikingly is a user friendly platform which allows you to construct a one page website from a handful of modern templates.

Unlike some other popular website builders, Strikingly doesn’t make use of a drag-and-drop interface. So, you can’t position page elements anywhere you like. Instead, each template has set areas for images, text and so forth, all of which can be clicked on and customized where they sit.

Some will feel that this approach is too restrictive, but if you are looking to build your first ever website, this system may just suit you better, thanks to its simplicity.

Strikingly Features

Strikingly t gives you some pretty savvy looking images and vector icons, along with professional fonts to give its existing templates a nice kick.

Although it only offers thirteen templates (at the time of writing), all of them are extremely well designed. Plus, they all come with various “styles”, which essentially just changes the primary colours and fonts of the template quickly and easily. Beyond that, there are some extra customization options which enable you to give each theme a personalised touch.

Strikingly also has an “App” store, although it simply offers extras which you can embed into your website. These include PayPal buttons, maps, Tweets, videos, forms and so forth. This feature also allows you to insert a blog into your website.

The only issue when it comes to customization features, is that you can only customize what the theme already has to offer. There’s no dragging-and-dropping new page elements into place where ever you please. But, as mentioned previously, this actually makes the process of building a website a lot more straight forward.

Strikingly Pricing

Strikingly has a free plan, along with two premium plans. Here’s how they look:

  1. Free
  2. Limited: $12 per month
  3. Pro: $20 per month

Those aren’t the cheapest prices on the market, but it’s also worth noting that the prices drop to $8 and $16 if you decide to pay yearly instead of monthly.

In comparison, Squarespace start their premium plans at $8, Wix at $4.15, whilst LightCMS begin at $19. Yola starts off at $4.17, and Weebly offers plans from just $3.29 per month when the plan duration is two years.

Interestingly though, Strikingly rewards premium users with the ability to build additional sites, on top of what their plan already offers. For example, liking and sharing Strikingly on Facebook is rewarded with the ability to build an extra site, whilst following and tweeting Strikingly on Twitter allows users to build yet another. Plus, for each Facebook friend you can get to sign up with Strikingly, another site become available to create.

In the website builder market, that’s a unique (and rather cool) extra.

Who is Strikingly For?

Strikingly is the go-to website builder for one page websites.

It offers templates for business websites, portfolios and personal websites, and makes it easy to customize each one. It’s also ideal for those without much experience with web design, because Strikingly doesn’t allow you to veer off of its pre-set designs.

Strikingly has limited eCommerce options though, so if you’re looking to sell online, you’ll need to look at other website builders, like Squarespace.

But, if you’re looking to build a clean, simple and sleek one page website, Strikingly is definitely for you.

Conclusion

You can build some truly stunning one page websites with Strikingly. If you don’t believe me, just check out their showcase section.

Strikingly is probably the best one page website builder around, simply because it’s so quick and easy to create a good looking website. Plus, because the templates are basically set in stone, it’s actually more difficult to make a Strikingly website look ugly than it is to make it look good.

It needs more templates and some better eCommerce functions, but apart from that, it’s a solid platform.

So, if you want a one page website, and you want it to look, well, striking, give Strikingly a whirl.
